In an effort to make the filmmaking process more environmentally friendly, the City of Austin has two amazing sustainability programs available to production companies.

The Austin Resource Recovery Department offers free on-site location recycling of corrugated cardboard, plastic bottles, and aluminum cans. To set up recycling pickup services, call Customer Service at 512-494-9400. For further details about working with the Austin Resource Recovery for filming, please contact Jessica Kingpetcharat-Bittner at 512-974-7678.

Through the Austin Reused Materials Marketplace, the Austin Resource Recovery Department offers a free marketplace where you can find a second home for sets, costumes, props, or other items without a clear recycling or reuse option. The marketplace can then be utilized film productions to source low-cost reused items. To learn more, please feel free to reach out to: info@austinmaterialsmarketplace.org or call 512-981-5417.
